What is not to love about Cyprus!

everetou dam looking towards the bay at polisWhat is not to love about Cyprus! We have been visiting Cyprus for 25 years and we find something different to see every time we come. The scenery is spectacular at all times of the year, the people are very friendly and accommodating, and driving on the left is a bonus for us English people, as is the plentiful supply of sunshine – but even the thunderstorms are spectacular!

Hiring a car  or going on a coach trip is an essential part of visiting Cyprus, unless you just want to sit by the pool or on the beach, because the very best parts of Cyprus are away from the main towns and cities. Just to walk around the beautifully picturesque, quiet villages away from the coast, or to walk in the forests and smell the pine trees is something not to be missed. If you want history though, it is everywhere in abundance.

We usually stay on the West side of the island (well, we loved Cyprus so much that we bought a house there 10 years ago!) but we always hire a car from Houlos car rentals, and a 4 x 4 vehicle means that we can explore the more rugged parts of the island, like the beautiful Akamas Peninsula, and the Troodos Mountains, as well as being able to get to our house when the weather is bad, as we are a bit off the beaten track.
