Cyprus the beautiful and sun drenched island in the Mediterranean. The use of a hire car from Savvas will open up opportunities to visit many interesting, historical and eye-opening places. Spend a little time exploring Paphos with historical sites/buildings visit Tomb of the Kings, St. Pauls Pillar and the older part of Paphos to enjoy the buildings and culture of a town steeped in history, but take care with the new road systems and when in the town centre possibly park the car in the new car park behind the police station and walk. Geroskipou – village/small town on the edge of Paphos is worth a visit, with traditional shops and taverna’s and a beach.
Visit the villages on the outskirts of Paphos:
Emba – in the centre of the village has two churchs – a new church recently built and an old church built many centuries ago, well worth a visit.
Tala – continue from Emba to the village of Tala, where the village square has recently been redeveloped and you can visit the newly built church (you can park your car), taverna’s plenty – Mario’s worth a visit and traditional shops.
Continue from Tala to the monastery of St. Neophytos and enjoy the sights and calm of monastery life. (Again, worth a visit.)
On another occasion travel from Paphos via the coast road to Coral Bay and enjoy the beach. On the way you may want to stop at the Corallia Beach Hotel Apartments and take in the sea and beach sights. Continuing on the road from Corallia Hotel you can visit a upmarket bar and bites cafe called Oniro. Having continued on the road passed the Corallia Hotel for some distance keep your eyes open for a small sign – Oniro.
Other villages worth a visit include Kouklia – During the summer months on an evening the village centre is closed for music and dancing at local taverna’s and there is a museum. Letymvou worth a visit and a taverna named The Vineyard.
To go further consider visits to Polis (ideal place for a cool drink at the many tavernas) and then onwards to Latsi, (fishing harbour / resort and enjoy a fish meze) returning to Paphos via Prodromi, Kathikas and Pegeia (Peyia) are well worth a visit.
Enjoy you holidays and happy motoring.
